Our team will assess your lawn and help create a plan so that it can grow green and lush. Our treatments are carefulEmerald Ash Borers (EAB) are highly invasive pests that kill scours of ash trees throughout Monroe County. If you have ash trees on your property, they will likely become a target for EAB, if they are not already.ly timed with the seasons, not just the calendar. We use only granular slow-release fertilizers, applied when your grass needs it most. Our crabgrass controls, weed controls, and insect treatments are applied when and where needed at a time when they’re most effective.
When advising tree owners on treatment, we look at the aesthetics and the percentage of the tree that is still alive. EAB destroys trees from the top down, so we determine if we can prune the tree so it still has the distinctive ash tree shape, or whether it will look like a topped tree, despite our efforts.
Trees that have not been attacked yet need to be treated every two years. Those that have been attacked need to be treated every year. Not all attacked trees can be effectively treated. Ash trees that have EAB damage to more than one third of the canopy are not good candidates for treatment. Trees with this much of their crown destroyed by the EAB or trees that are completely dead should be removed.
The most effective treatment/preventative is injected directly into the tree trunk at a concentration available only to state-licensed/certified pesticide applicators. TreeAge is placed directly into the tree’s vascular system, where it can be carried to where the EAB larvae are feeding. The borers are small, weak, and more vulnerable in spring. So, spring treatments are more effective.
With eight NYS Certified Pesticide Applicators and 13 Certified Arborists on staff, we can provide the best knowledge and care for your Ash trees.
