Compare When Choosing a Lawn Service

This is the time of year when lawn care companies often solicit new customers for the next season’s services. No two companies are alike, and their literature can be confusing. So which service is the best choice for your property? Here are a few things to consider when choosing a service to care for your lawn:

Is the company familiar with local conditions? Lawn care should be tailored to meet local climate conditions, soil, and turf types. ‘One size fits all’ doesn’t apply! Is the company locally-based and familiar with the unique challenges of our region?

Weather conditions vary widely from year to year making adjustments in treatment strategies necessary. Treatment based strictly on the calendar can fall short of giving your lawn timely care.

Can your questions be answered? Your lawn care company should be familiar with current research, insects and diseases that affect your particular region, and seasonal challenges. Is there someone there to answer your questions or address your concerns about your lawn?

Cheaper isn’t necessarily better... or cheaper. Services often promote introductory prices that look attractive on a “per-visit” basis, but when you read the fine print, you may find that extra visits are required at additional cost to provide everything your lawn needs, driving the total annual cost of service higher than you expected.  Make sure you understand what’s included in each company’s program before you sign up.

When choosing a lawn care company, you entrust them to give you a program that will fit the unique needs of your property, and respond to your questions and concerns in a timely manner. With the right company, you should be able to rest assured that you share a common goal of having the best lawn possible.
